Practice Philosophy
Childbirth is a profound rite of passage, not a medical event (even when medical care is part of the birth.) Each woman walks her own individual path. My role as midwife is to support her physically, emotionally, and spiritually, offering guidance along the way. Self-care during the prenatal period and personal responsibility are the cornerstones of a healthy, normal pregnancy, with minimum complications. Out of respect for the birthing process, I believe that unnecessary interference is an unwise interruption of the birthing process. Careful watching, guiding, and assisting families in the way that is of their choosing upholds the sacredness of the childbearing year, while providing individualized and thoughtful care.

Midwifery Services
I provide care for mother and baby for the entire childbearing year and well-woman care for non-pregnant women. Maternity care can include pre-conception counseling, prenatal visits, labor and birth support, and mother/newborn care for 6 weeks postpartum. The schedule of visits is similar to standard obstetric care:
*Every 4 weeks until the 28th week
*Every 2 weeks until the 36th week
*Once a week until birth
*Visits at 2 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks postpartum

Various tests will be offered during pregnancy. Most can be performed in office, with the major exception being ultrasound which will be ordered through an imaging center or hospital.

At 36 weeks of pregnancy, I will be on-call 24/7 until you give birth. Outside of this period I can be reached at either my cell or home number, through email, or on Facebook.
